Sarah Cavanagh

Sarah Cavanagh graduated from the University of Brighton in 1992 and has enjoyed a varied pharmacy career, largely working in the NHS but also in several low-income countries. She is the Regional Public Health Pharmacist for NHS England in the East, working closely with the DHSC and the UKHSA. She advises on all aspects of pharmaceutical public health with a particular focus on novel NHS vaccination programmes, the prevention of disease, outbreak response and strategic resilience and preparedness planning. She frequently contributes to the evidence base on the prevention agenda, in particular the unique role pharmacy teams play in vaccination programmes and championing antimicrobial stewardship initiatives to address AMR.
Sarah has worked in a variety of senior leadership roles including with the Commonwealth Pharmacists Association, the NHS Specialist Pharmacy Service and as Director of the East Anglia Medicines Information Service. She was appointed a Fellow of the Royal Pharmaceutical Society (now the Royal College of Pharmacy) in 2024 for leadership in pharmaceutical public health and addressing health inequalities nationally and internationally.
