Dr J Peter Donnelly

Peter began his career in Medical Microbiology in 1975 at Gartnavel General Hospital in Glasgow, Scotland then moved to the Hammersmith Hospital, London in 1979 crossing the English Channel in 1987 to work at the Radboud University Medical Centre in Nijmegen, The Netherlands. He specialised in the management and diagnosis of infectious complications associated with haematological malignancies and stem cell transplantation and helped in the design, conduct, analysis and reporting of clinical trials of new antimicrobial agents. He has published 256 papers and has written 19 book chapters. He was a founder member if the Antifungal Susceptibility Test subcommittee of EUCAST, helped set up the Fungal PCR Initiative Working Group of the International Society of Human and Animal Mycology in 2006 and was chair of the Infectious Diseases Group of the European Organisation for Research and Treatment of Cancer Infectious Diseases Group. He was Editor in Chief of the Journal of Antimicrobial Chemotherapy from 2015-2025.
