Dr Louise Sweeney is a Consultant Microbiologist at the Manchester Medical Microbiology Partnership, Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust (MFT), Manchester, UK. Her specialist clinical areas are Adult Haematology and Transplant, Critical Care and the treatment of multi-drug resistant bacterial infections, specifically Gram-negative infections. She is the clinical lead for antimicrobial susceptibility testing and antimicrobial resistance; a member of the MFT Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee and Greater Manchester Antimicrobial Stewardship Committee.
Alongside her clinical work, Dr Sweeney is an educational supervisor, Ordinary Council Member and Journal Liaison Officer for the British Society for Antimicrobial Chemotherapy. She has contributed to various BSAC education and training events, including programme development and co-chairing Into Clinical Practice: Meeting the Challenges of Gram Negative Infection Management Conference.
