I am a registered nurse with over 20 years’ experience in clinical practice, prior to completing a master’s degree in advanced clinical Practice. My career has spanned diverse roles across both primary and secondary care, with every post involving the care of patients affected by infection. I currently work as an Advanced Practitioner, spending one day per week in Infection Sciences and the remainder of my clinical time in Respiratory Medicine. Alongside my clinical role, I am a Lecturer at the University of Salford, School of Nursing, contributing to the education and development of future nurses. I am passionate about patient advocacy and about advancing antimicrobial stewardship, which I believe should be recognised and embedded as a core nursing skill across all settings.
