Miss Jo McEwen

Advanced Nurse Practitioner Antimicrobial Stewardship - NHS Tayside

Jo was appointed as Scotlands first Advanced Nurse Practitioner in Antimicrobial Stewardship. Since taking up this post, Jo has been involved in leading and working with nursing and midwifery teams across NHS Tayside and further afield to promote the nursing/midwifery role in antimicrobial stewardship and infection management. During this time Jo has worked in collaboration with NHS Education Scotland and the Scottish Antimicrobial Prescribing Group to develop the first interactive programme on Antimicrobial Stewardship for Nurses & Midwives which was launched in April 2015. She is also responsible for including the topic of antimicrobial stewardship to both the undergraduate and post-graduate nursing programme, with the University of Dundee being the first in the UK to offer this to nursing students.
