Professor J. Mark Sutton is a Scientific Leader at UKHSA Porton Down and a Professor for Antimicrobial Therapy, with the Institute of Pharmaceutical Sciences at King’s College London. His research interests are mainly in the field of bacterial pathogenesis and virulence, the development and evaluation of novel antimicrobial agents and rapid detection and diagnostic systems. His group uses a variety of techniques to develop real life solutions to practical problems, working closely with end users, academic groups and commercial parties. The group takes an interdisciplinary approach working with a variety of groups in life sciences, chemistry and physical sciences. He is author of more than 100 peer reviewed publication and a named inventor on 19 patent families filed internationally.
